Trekking between Maremma and Monte Argentario on the ancient roads crossed by the brigands. We will still cross wild territories and we will discover the pleasure of walking together with the Etruscans.

This program gives the possibility to rediscover the “wild” that is inside us reporting ourselves to the natural environment. Through some activities (sports, games), in complete safety, you will be conducted through the elements water, air and earth to the discovery of wild places. The possibility to measure yourselves in activities that stimulate the ability to believe in your own capabilities and that increase the sense of affiliation to the group, will make the stay amusing and constructive.
Activities: archery, observation of stars, aquatrek, trekking.

 

PARCO ARCHEOLOGICO DI VULCI E ROMITORI DELLA VALLE DEL FIORA

Length: 3 days

In this surprising archaeological and natural site, you will learn all about the history of this etruscan city by visiting the remains of the civita, with evidences of the Etruscan and the Roman domination. You’ll also have an evocative walk discovering the ancient refugees made by Christian hermits in the tuff during Middle Age.

 

TREKKING ORVIETO – VITERBO

Length: 3 days

Throughout the Via Francigena, from Orvieto to Viterbo, passing through Bolsena and Montefiascone. Accommodation in ancient convents, dinner in typical spaces, crossing the old routes taken by pilgrims through woods, rivers and ancient calcareous stone roads.

 

BANDITS’ LIFE

From the “Lago di Mezzano” to the ”Selva del Lamone”, from Farnese to Castro, three days of trekking on the tracks of the bandits. We will cross wild territories and we will discover the pleasure to walk together with the Etruscans.

 

TUSCIA MAREMMANA

Length: 3 days

Day 1 – Parco dei Mostri di Bomarzo
It is a Renaissance garden of contemplation built by prince Orsini. The monstrous statues of the Park will bring us into and amazing and wonderful itinerary to the discovery of the myths that are hidden behind these mysterious figures. This place is so peculiar that still nowadays the visitor is enchanted by the artworks.

Day 2 (Option n° 1) –  Pitigliano and Sovana
Pitigliano and Sovana are two of the most beautiful Italian villages. Pitigliano is also called “Little Jerusalem” because of the Jewish  community who has lived there from 1400 to the second world war. We will walk through the medieval town and in the vie cave (tracks dug in the tufa rock) where we will discover two thousand years of history and where vegetation and animal footprints will show us a place far from modern life. Time will flow back at the times these tracks were used by Etruscans to reach the illumination of the death.
Sovana is an ancient Etruscan village where we can admire the old cathedral built in the XI-XII century; We will then visit see the beautiful Santa Maria church where a rare  IXth  century ciborium is located

Day 2 (Option n° 2) – Bolsena and Civita di Bagnoregio
Bolsena is the town that gives its name to the lake.
Bolsena is known for a miracle said to have occurred in the Basilica of Santa Cristina in 1263, when a priest, in doubt about the catholic doctrine, reported bleeding from the host he had consecrated.
Civita di Bagnoregio is sadly known as the “dying city” because of its unstable geological situation. Through the track we will learn the geology of the area between the Tiber river Valley and the northern volcanic surface of Lazio region. Civita for thousands of years, has been a very important junction between the Bolsena Lake, southern Etruria and the Tiber river used by the ships to reach the Tyrrhenian sea. We will recognise the traces of populations who made the history of this land as Etruscans, Romans, Langobardic.

Day 3 – Parco naturalistico archeologico di Vulci
Many findings have taken place in the archeological area, showing us the great importance of Vulci in the history of this territory. The settlement began its development during the IX Century BC  on a plain close to the Tyrrhenian Sea along the bank of the river Fiora and it reached its apogee during the Etruscan Age, becoming a Roman Town at the beginning of the IIIrd BC. During the tour, you will “listen” with your hands, “see” with your feet and “feel” with your body the energy of an invisible community that used to live in synergy with its environment.

 

ON THE ANCIENT ROADS OF THE BRIGANDS

Length: 5 days
Period: all year round
Grade: moderate

Trekking from Monte Rufeno to Castro on the ancient roads of the brigands, through Monte Rufeno’s reserve, Selva del Lamone, Bolsena Lake. We will visit Etruscan necropolises and vie cave, enjoying an amazing natural/historical itinerary.

The participants will have the opportunity to discover all the natural environments of Maremma: Mediterranean scrub, country and rivers. We will cross enchanting places and mostly unknown by many excursionists. We will also have the feeling of a time journey from prehistory to the present day thanks to the historical archaeological records that we will find.
